Hello Artists and Families!
It has been a busy second week in our studio! It has been nice to start to settle into routines and get used to being back at school. Check out some of the awesome things that happened this week in our Friday Five below!
Artfully yours,
Ms. Sam
1.) We finished our self portraits! I am now working on hanging up all of this beautiful work around the art room!
2.) We practiced a few more routines! We went over the schedule that we will follow every day in art and practiced using two signals to help work time run smoothly... our "pause button" and our timer. Our "pause button" helps us be ready for a quick direction, and our timer helps keep track of how much time is left in work time.
3.) We opened our "Explore" paper shelf! This shelf is the spot where artists can find sketch paper to use to explore ideas and materials. Stay tuned to see our "Persist" paper shelf open in a few weeks!
4.) Kindergarten had their first art classes! This was the first week of regular kindergarten classes and it was so exciting to meet so many new friends! Kindergarten artists started self portraits too!
5.) We started building our Share Bag! Every class ends with time to share. Share time provides not only an opportunity to reflect on the work we created that class, but also time to think about how we created that work and what Habits of Excellence we may have used. The first share protocol to go into the Share Bag is Classic Share! During Classic Share, artists have the opportunity to celebrate and learn more about the work of other artists.
